The History Major
The requirements for a history major are 11 history electives (33 credits). The only required history elective is The Historian’s Craft (HIST 21300), which history majors should enroll in as early in their career at City College as possible. (HIST 21300 is required for all students who declare a history major after September 1, 2015.) In addition, students may take no more than four 200-level electives (unless they take more than 11 total electives). Finally, students must meet the following distribution requirements: Two courses from each of the following threecategories: 1) The Americas (Latin America and the U.S.); 2) Asia, Africa, the Middle East; and 3) Europe. The History Minor
The requirements for a history minor are 5 history electives (15 credits) whose course number begins with the number “2” or higher. Take one history class and you’re 20% of the way to a minor.
